Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds Summer School is a fun way to spend the summer with three individual weeks tailored to each age group.

We wanted to design a great, high-quality experience for young people to enjoy this summer while expressing their creativity and learning new skills. Our three individual weeks of summer school are tailored to each age group.

Adventurer Academy: 3-7 August, 10am-4pm Monday-Friday
Musical Theatre Intensive: 10-14 August, 10am-4pm Monday-Friday
Theatre Makers: 17-21 August, 10am-4pm Monday-Friday

Summary:
Designed and led by our Creative Learning team, this fantastic series of three weeks of workshops teaches young people new skills, builds confidence and gives them the chance to meet new people as well as have fun! These week-long courses combine creativity, education and fun to help support parents and guardians in the summer holidays.

Adventurer Academy for 8-12s:
Join Theatre Royal for five days this summer and create your own adventure using drama, music and storytelling. Invent characters, design magical realms and make choices which will shape your adventure! Spend a week as an explorer-in-training in a mysterious, ever-changing world. Unlock clues through drama, music and storytelling and invent characters, design magical realms and make choices that shape the adventure. At week’s end, families are invited inside to discover the world you’ve created.

Musical Theatre Intensive for 10-16s:
Step into the spotlight for an unforgettable week of musical theatre magic! Our Summer School is run by professional theatre artists, giving you high-quality, hands-on experience that will help you to build confidence, skills and friendships. Join a team of professional artists: a choreographer, director, and musical director and rehearse, refine and perform a dazzling showcase in just five days.

Theatre Makers for 12-18s:
In just five action-packed days, you’ll team up with a brilliant group of young creatives to imagine, create, and perform a brand-new piece of theatre – from the very first spark of an idea to the final curtain call. Guided by professional theatre-makers, you’ll step into the world of theatre-making and create a theatre production from start to finish.
