The annual Holocaust Memorial Day Service takes place in the Peace Garden at Abbey Gardens, providing an opportunity to remember the millions of people who were persecuted and murdered during the Holocaust, as well as the victims of subsequent genocides around the world.
Holocaust Memorial Day commemorates all those affected by genocide, including those who suffered in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur, and encourages reflection on the importance of standing against hatred and discrimination today.
The service will bring together members of the local community, including school pupils, councillors and the local MP, who will take part in the commemorations.
In addition to the service at 10.30am, St Edmundsbury Cathedral will remain open throughout the day, offering a space for quiet reflection and contemplation.
The Peace Garden is situated near to the Abbey Gate entrance on Angel Hill.
