The Fools’ Flood, penned by Neil Clayton, takes us back to 13th Century Bury St Edmunds, where a daring tale unfolds. When the monks at the Abbey decide to dam the Tayfen Brook, the marshes to the northeast of town are flooded, sparking outrage among the townspeople. Witness the dramatic clash as town citizens try to violently to tear down the dam, leading to some rather nasty consequences.

Noye’s Fludde, an operatic masterpiece by Benjamin Britten, debuted at St Bartholemew’s Church, Orford in 1958 during the Aldeburgh Festival. Crafted for a diverse ensemble of professional and community performers, this piece brings the legendary story of Noah’s Ark and the Great Flood to life, showcasing a mix of beautiful music and spirited action.

These performances also provide a moment to reflect on pressing contemporary issues like climate change and migration. With a set crafted almost entirely from recycled materials and costumes adorned by the children of our community, this production embodies a spirit of sustainability and creativity.
