Every Tuesday after 3pm, you can park for free in selected short-stay car parks and on-street parking areas.
The Free After 3pm parking initiative in Bury St Edmunds has been running since April 2013, offering nearly a million free parking spaces over the past 12 years. As a partnership between Our Bury St Edmunds BID and West Suffolk Council, the scheme was created to attract more people into the town centre to shop, dine, and simply enjoy all Bury St Edmunds has to offer.
Every Tuesday after 3pm, you can park for free in selected short-stay car parks and on-street parking areas. Locations include Arc-Cattlemarket, Chequer Square, and Angel Hill, with a full list of participating car parks available on the West Suffolk Website.
"It’s ideal if you’re popping into town to do a bit of shopping and end up staying for dinner, or if you meet a friend for coffee and get carried away chatting. With no need to worry about the meter after 3pm, it makes those spontaneous town visits even more enjoyable.
This ongoing initiative continues to support local businesses while making the town centre more accessible and welcoming for both residents and visitors".
