Defibrillators in Bury St Edmunds Town Centre
For many years, we’ve worked with local partners and businesses to make lifesaving defibrillators available across the town centre. The first publicly accessible defibrillator was installed at The Apex in 2014, and since then, six more public units have been added. Additionally, nine more defibrillators are available in local businesses during their operating hours.
All defibrillator locations are marked on the town map, enabling people to locate the nearest one in an emergency quickly. As part of our support for safety in the town, we also include defibrillator training in our free first aid courses for BID members.
To help cover the costs of maintenance, replacing parts, and installing new units, we’ve received valuable funding from Bury St Edmunds Town Council, West Suffolk Council, and the arc shopping centre. In 2022, we also launched a cartridge recycling initiative to raise further funds. This was made possible thanks to ongoing support from Paul Hicklin of Compleat Office Solutions, who has played a key role in making defibrillators more widely available in the town centre, working closely with the BID and other partners.
