Broadway Comes to Suffolk Spa
A touch of the glitz and glamour of Broadway came to Suffolk when award-winning West End and Broadway star Ruthie Henshall drew the winning tickets for the Suffolk Family Carers annual charity Christmas raffle at SK Clinic + Spa, Bury St Edmunds Suffolk, on Wednesday 19th December.
One of the lucky winners gets to enjoy a scrumptious New Year lunch with Ruthie, who is a patron of the Suffolk Family Carers Charity, along with a signed copy of her new book ‘So You Want To Be In Musicals?’
SK Clinic + Spa supported the Family Carers annual charity raffle by donating one of the other main prizes – a luxury hamper of all-natural beauty products worth £300. In total, the raffle raised more than £2000 for the charity.
SK also treated Ruthie to an afternoon of luxury treatments to thank her for her work with the charity which the spa has proudly supported for over four years with a shared message of taking time out to care for oneself.
A Family Carer is someone of any age whose life is restricted because they are looking after another person who cannot manage without help because of illness, age related frailty, mental health need, substance misuse or disability. Family carers are not paid and do not always live with the person they care for. They may be caring for a friend, neighbour or relative.
Suffolk Family Carers estimate that there are 98,000 Family Carers in Suffolk and they currently support 6,263 of them, including 103 Young Adult Carers and 411 Young Carers. The tireless efforts of the charity ensure that these carers have access to support, advice and guidance that enables them to look after themselves as well as their loved ones.
Daniela Chandler, SK’s Spa Director, says, “We were delighted to support this year’s raffle draw and welcome both Ruthie Henshall and Suffolk Family Carers to the spa. It is an honour for us to help in any way we can to raise much-needed funds for the support and services that this life-changing charity provides.”
Ruthie enjoyed an array of treatments during her spa day including the deluxe Biarritz Pedi-Spa, profoundly relaxing Tension Relief Massage and award-winning Pevonia Prescriptive Facial, which she described as, “Amazing. Unlike any facial I’ve had before.”
The charity’s Chief Executive Jacqui Martin said of the day, “Thank you very much for your hospitality on Wednesday at SK Clinic + Spa and for making the visit by our patron, Ruthie Henshall, very special for her.”
