Secrets, Stories and Stand up...

This area clearly loves a great raconteur; over the last couple of years, The Apex has been building a name for itself on the comedy circuit, with most events selling out. This autumn there’s chance to hear tall tales and anecdotes from a range of top comedians, as well as some well-known names from the world of entertainment.

On 4 September, Andy Kershaw will recount stories from his career as a broadcaster, journalist and foreign correspondent in his fascinating, and often hilarious, audio-visual presentation, 'Adventures with Andy Kershaw'. Andy began his musical life as Billy Bragg’s driver, roadie and tour manager, before becoming a Radio DJ, helping to popularise World Music. Andy has reported from three 'Axis of Evil' countries, three civil wars (including Rwanda) and one volcanic eruption (Montserrat), and made the very first film inside secretive North Korea.

The legendary Joan Collins will reveal some of the exciting stories and secrets from her long career on 16 September. Dame Joan has appeared in more than 118 feature films and TV shows, including the role of Alexis Carrington on 'Dynasty'. Joan Collins Unscripted also includes a question and answer session with the audience.

Rich Hall’s critically acclaimed grouchy, deadpan style has established him as a master of absurdist irony and quick fire wit, and he is renowned for his expertly crafted tirades, growling indignation and acerbic observations. There are just a handful of tickets left for his show at The Apex on 8 October.

Described by The Guardian as "unquestionably the best observational comic of his generation", Seann Walsh brings his brand-new show, ‘One for the Road’, on 20 October. With a keen observational mind, Seann can spot the absurdity in everything and convert it to perfectly delivered stand-up comedy. Seann is a team captain of Virtually Famous and regular on Play To The Whistle, he's also appeared on Live at the Apollo, Jonathan Ross Show, Tonight at The London Palladium, Celebrity Juice, 8 Out Of 10 Cats and Alan Carr: Chatty Man.

Enjoy a night of laughs with that bald bloke from They Think It’s All Over - Lee Hurst’s ‘Comedy Show No.9’ is on 4 November. Lee appeared in the first five series' of the sporting quiz show before concentrating on running his own comedy club. Coming out of semi-retirement to 'keep his hand in' while the club was being rebuilt, his tours were so well received that he's regularly out on the road. In fact, this is his 9th Comedy Show – but you might have guessed that from the title.

You’ve probably seen Hal Cruttenden on TV in the likes of: Live At The Apollo, The Royal Variety Performance, Would I Lie To You?, The Great British Bake Off; An Extra Slice, Live At The Palladium and Have I Got News For You. He is, he says, "developing into Mr Angry Suburban, with an edge of a midlife crisis coming along". Now you can see him ranting about the real evils of the modern world – such as over sharing on social media and the 5:2 diet - in his new stand up show on 21 November.
