Festival events for families at The Apex ...
The Apex will play host to two great shows for families at the end of the Bury Festival.
The Three Little Pigs Family Concert on Saturday 28 May at 11am tells the story of… guess who..? Of course, it’s the three little pigs! With plenty of participation and bags of fun, the Galliard Ensemble celebrates the 100th anniversary of Roald Dahl’s birth with this show for children aged between 5 and 10.
The Galliard Ensemble are one of Britain’s leading chamber groups. They will introduce the instruments as they go along, before culminating in Paul Patterson’s popular musical setting of Roald Dahl’s Three Little Pigs, adapted by the composer for wind quintet.
Prices: £7.50 for adults, £5.50 for children. Show starts at 11am.
The Rattler on Sunday 29 May at 3pm is a new interactive retelling of the story of Rumpelstiltskin for children aged 7+ and their families.. The performance will begin with a music and craft workshop and a colourful pageant into the auditorium where the Rattler’s tale begins.
Alyson, a poor weaver’s daughter is coming of age and wants more than a life of poverty and hard work with her father Joseph. Crown Prince Aiden, son of Dowager Queen Kathryn also dreams of something different, rebelling against his mother’s expectations to marry for wealth and dynasty. When the Rattler learns of their desires, he begins manipulating events to use their wants to his own end.
As the lively, folk-infused music, puppetry and inventive storytelling continues, you are invited to help bring this age-old tale to life - audiences can take on the role of the villagers, singing choruses, cheering on the cast and taking on various roles as the story unfolds.
Price: £8.
Starts at 3pm.
