School Holidays Sorted with Bury St Edmunds Library ...

Over the summer holidays Bury St Edmunds Library has lots of fun events for children and families.

The annual summer reading challenge continues to encourage your children to read over the long summer holiday with a Mythical Maze theme this year. Reading a book a week over the 6 week break, your children will collect a prize with each book they read.

On Saturday 19th July to Sunday 20th July the library will be hosting a Magna Carta Family Weekend with lots of fun & games for children. Learn about the link between Bury St Edmunds and the Magna Carta, whilst enjoying activities such as Medieval Calligraphy. A Knight will also be there in his shining armour for photo opportunities! All those that attend will be entitled to free entry to Moyse's Hall Museum that weekend.

Celebrate the 25th anniversary of "We're Going on a Bear Hunt" with a live streamed performance of Michael Rosen reading this classic children's story. On Tuesday 25th July at 10am, the reading will be streamed live across the nation to libraries, and there will be Card Bear Ears and a poster for everyone to take home! Tickets are £1 and pre-booking is advised. Bring your Teddy Bears!
