Summertime Reading at the Bury St Edmunds Library...
Bury St Edmunds Library would like to invite you to join their Summer Reads Project for adults, as well as welcoming the return of annual event, the Children's Summer Reading Challenge.
Over the course of the summer, eight fabulous books have been chosen for you to enjoy. From crime novels to poetry, the list of summer reads includes The Colour of Milk by Nell Leyshon and detective novel Hawthorn & Child by Keith Ridgway.
During June, the library will be hosting evening events to celebrate the Summer Reads Project. On the 10th June, come along at 6:30pm to discuss your love of reading with fellow book lovers.
A Confident Reader Workshop, led by UEA Lecturer, B J Epstein, will be held on the 17th June, and finally an evening with the author of All the Birds, Singing, Evie Wyld, on the 30th June will round off the month and encourage a summer of delving into new worlds via the written word.
The Children's Summer Reading Challenge will be back once again to encourage kids to keep up their reading skills during the long school break. If you can spare some time to listen to young readers over the summer, do leave your details with a member of staff.
Also, a quick reminder that this Saturday, the 7th June, is the Three Cheers for Volunteers day. Celebrating the wonderful people that give their time so generously, there will be representatives from Age UK, the Samaritans, Community Action Suffolk, Anglia Care Trust and Sue Ryder present for us to say thanks.
