Glow in the arc raises over £1700 for St Nicholas Hospice Care...
On Wednesday night, arc shopping centre hosted ‘Glow in the arc’ in Charter Square raising a total of £1703.20 for the 2016 St Nicholas Hospice Care Accumulator Challenge!
Charter Square was lit up as over 150 dance and exercise enthusiasts, led by NRG Fitness, waved glowsticks and took part in a Clubbercise session – a dance work out to club classics.
Chloe Keith, responsible for events at arc shopping centre organised the event and said; “A lot of work went into planning the event and I’m over the moon with the turnout. I was hoping that we’d raise £1000, but raise as much as we have is wonderful. The atmosphere was amazing throughout but as the sun set and all the glowsticks lit up the shopping centre, it came alive like I have never seen before.”
The Accumulator Challenge is a corporate fundraising challenge sponsored by Jacobs Allen Chartered Accountants & Chartered Tax Advisers. Each company that takes part is given a £50 note to find interesting and innovative ways of gaining as much profit as possible, all of which will be donated to St Nicholas Hospice Care.
The hefty sum of money raised was through donations made by clubbers to take part, as well as a raffle with prizes donated by retailers within the arc shopping centre. Jessops were the official photographer of the night and helped support the event by printing and selling photos of groups of friends.
Arc Centre Manager, Colin Roberts, said; “It was a fantastic evening, everyone was having so much fun. St Nicholas Hospice do such an amazing job in our community, we love to support them. This is the sixth year we have taken part in the Accumulator Challenge and I’m happy to say our best yet! I want to say a massive thank you to everyone who helped organise the event, our retailers for donating prizes and of course everyone who attended the event.”
