West Suffolk Hospital’s proud involvement as a major benefactor of a lavish auction and ball will be commemorated by having a F1 car parked for a day in Bury’s Arc shopping centre!

The hospital will be manning the Jordan F1 car, and offering people the chance to have their photo taken with – or in – the eye-catching vehicle from 9am to 5pm on Saturday 17^th August.

The publicity stunt, organised by Fundraising Manager Dave Gooderham, is part of the hospital’s partnership with this year’s Sir Bobby Robson Breakthrough Online Auction, which hopes to raise £1 million.

The auction has started a text-to-win competition, offering people the chance to win three money-can’t-buy prizes – including tickets for next year’s Monaco Grand Prix and flying to the principality courtesy of your own private jet!

Dave said: “The Sir Bobby Breakthrough Online Auction really does give anybody and everybody the chance to win one of these once-in-a-lifetime items. We are very proud to be associated with such a wonderful fundraising event and so we wanted to do something equally spectacular to raise awareness of the text-to-win competition.

“Anyone can come and see us in the Arc on Saturday 17^th August, learn more about the auction and have their photos taken with the Jordan F1 car, in exchange for a small donation to the cause.”

Other prizes via the text-to-win are a behind-the-scenes chance to watch the England football team train and VIP tickets to next year’s Champions League final.

All you have to do to have a chance of winning one of the text-to-win prizes is text BOBBY to 83222.

Of the money raised – from the text-to-win and also the two-week online auction running from 10^th October to 27^th October – half will go to the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation, 30% will go to Breakthrough Breast Cancer and 10% each to West Suffolk Hospital and Ipswich Hospital.
