F1 car at The Arc shopping
West Suffolk Hospital’s proud involvement as a major benefactor of a lavish auction and ball will be commemorated by having a F1 car parked for a day in Bury’s Arc shopping centre!
The hospital will be manning the Jordan F1 car, and offering people the chance to have their photo taken with – or in – the eye-catching vehicle from 9am to 5pm on Saturday 17th August.
The publicity stunt, organised by Fundraising Manager Dave Gooderham, is part of the hospital’s partnership with this year’s Sir Bobby Robson Breakthrough Online Auction, which hopes to raise £1 million.
The auction has started a text-to-win competition, offering people the chance to win three money-can’t-buy prizes – including tickets for next year’s Monaco Grand Prix and flying to the principality courtesy of your own private jet!
Dave said: “The Sir Bobby Breakthrough Online Auction really does give anybody and everybody the chance to win one of these once-in-a-lifetime items. We are very proud to be associated with such a wonderful fundraising event and so we wanted to do something equally spectacular to raise awareness of the text-to-win competition.
“Anyone can come and see us in the Arc on Saturday 17th August, learn more about the auction and have their photos taken with the Jordan F1 car, in exchange for a small donation to the cause.”
Other prizes via the text-to-win are a behind-the-scenes chance to watch the England football team train and VIP tickets to next year’s Champions League final.
All you have to do to have a chance of winning one of the text-to-win prizes is text BOBBY to 83222.
Of the money raised – from the text-to-win and also the two-week online auction running from 10th October to 27th October – half will go to the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation, 30% will go to Breakthrough Breast Cancer and 10% each to West Suffolk Hospital and Ipswich Hospital.
Organisers hope to raise £1 million in memory of the legendary former Ipswich Town and England manager and you can help by taking part in the text-to-give, donating a prize for the online auction, registering to bid or following on Twitter @sirbobbyauction or their Facebook and Just Giving social media channels.
