Prizes on offer for Bury St Edmunds MonsterHeroes Trail

Have you spotted the MonsterHeroes on their Bury St Edmunds Safari yet? If you have and you’ve already signed up to the trail which is raising money for NHS Charities Together there’s now a chance to win some fabulous shopping vouchers in an Our Bury St Edmunds Instagram competition. And if you haven’t yet – what are you waiting for? All you need to do is post a selfie with your favourite Safari character displayed in a Bury St Edmunds shop window and say why it’s the best Monster Hero.

Launching on Saturday (August 1) the Instagram competition is the brainchild of Our Bury St Edmunds Chief Executive Mark Cordell who said: “There’s been a lot of early interest in the Monster Heroes but we hope by encouraging people to share pictures of the characters on their social media accounts we’ll be able to raise even more money for our NHS heroes. Anyone who tags @Ourburysteds with a selfie with their favourite Monster Hero in Bury St Edmunds using #MonsterHeroSafari and #OurBuryStEds in their explanation will be in the draw to win one of five £25 shopping vouchers to be spent in the town centre.

“The trail is a fun and safe way to enjoy a walk around Bury St Edmunds and we’d love to see our town raise as much money as possible for the charity through our generous Safari players.”

The nationwide story-trail project ‘MonsterHero Safari’ launched last week (July 20) with 10 different characters displayed in the windows of town centre premises. Participants need only their smartphone to utilise contactless NFC technology and QR codes. The Safari is app- free without the need for players to download or sign up. After finding all 10 ‘MonsterHeroes’ families will be rewarded with a free e-book about their first adventure.

Sponsorship from both Our Bury St Edmunds and arc shopping centre means that the Safari continues to be absolutely free for at least the next 400 players to sign up, although they will be able to make a charity donation if they wish. Thereafter there will be a £2 entry fee for the trail.

‘MonsterHero Safari’ can be found in Bury St Edmunds until the first week of September. More information is available at or follow the link from
