Special Olympics Suffolk (SOS) is the Suffolk branch of Special Olympics Great Britain (SOGB). SOGB is the largest provider of year-round sport training and competition for all people with an intellectual disability.
Special Olympics is recognised as the third member of the “Olympic Family” and is the only other organisation allowed to use the word ‘Olympic.’
Until recently, Suffolk was one of only four counties in the country not to have a SO club and this has recently changed with the formation of SOS.
Launched in 2014, they have held two athletics competitions and will have their second Gymnastics competition on Sunday 30th August at Waveney Gymnastics Club in Lowestoft.
They have also nominated 22 people for consideration as members of the Eastern Region team to compete in the 2017 Special Olympics Great Britain National Games in Sheffield.
In order to support these events and the team, they are looking for sponsorship as well as new fundraising opportunites to fund kit costs, transport and travel and support for the team.
If you would like to know more information about the club or if you are interested in sponsoring the team, take a look at their website here.
