Authentic Austen: Original Music and Manuscripts make Magnificent Musical Drama...
A new musical adaptation of literary legend, Jane Austen’s, admired novel Persuasion comes straight from Chicago to the Theatre Royal on 22 – 23 July.
Celebrated company Chamber Opera Chicago offer up an authentic rendition of this classic tale of a woman who has loved, lost, and learnt the value of second chances. Following the social downfall of heroine, Anne Elliot, can the man she rejected in her prosperous past learn to love her again?
With music from Austen’s original manuscripts as well as songs taken directly from the author’s era, all fully staged by a live orchestra, this talented company has remained true to the essence of the original novel.
The production is not entirely immune to the influence of modernity however, boasting world-champion Irish dancers and stunning scenery projected onto the stage; such innovation brilliantly brings this classic story back to life, and onto the stage.
More than a brief courtship, this is a night to be transported back in time, and fall in love, with one of the most powerful romances ever written.
