Re-opening for prayer and worship...
From Sunday 7 March St Edmundsbury Cathedral, Bury St Edmunds, will re-open for some services and at limited times for personal prayer. On Sundays, there will be services at 8.00 am, 11.00 am and 3.30 pm in the building, though places must be pre-booked by emailing cathedralinvitations@stedscathedral.org
During the week, there are services of Holy Communion on Tuesdays (12.30 pm), Wednesdays (1.00 pm) and Thursdays (12.30 pm). No booking is required for these services. All services continue to be livestreamed on the Cathedral’s Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/stedscathedral
In addition the Cathedral will be open for personal prayer and reflection on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 12 noon to 2.00 pm.
‘We are pleased to be able to welcome worshippers back to the building for some of our services, whilst continuing to follow the guidance carefully,’ comments Sarah Friswell, PR Manager at the Cathedral. ‘It is good that we can offer both online and in person opportunities to our congregation, helping people to feel connected during this sustained period of isolation.’
In line with the ’stay at home’ message, the Cathedral closed for public worship and personal prayer from early January, though it has continued to livestream services, musical reflections and other events for Lent daily.
Full details of all online services at the Cathedral are available on the website https://stedscathedral.org/worship
