St Edmundsbury Cathedral transformed by art exhibition...
St Edmundsbury Cathedral, Bury St Edmunds, will be transformed from Wednesday 12 March by an exciting and innovative exhibition created by children across the county of Suffolk. Part of an ongoing series of art exhibitions designed to encourage children to respond artistically to a spiritual theme, this year’s exhibition is based on ‘Gifts and Responsibilities’. The artworks, which take the form of banners and large Greek urn-style vessels, will be on display to the general public and a programme of events for school children will take place from 12 to 19 March.
‘This latest exhibition, which is the first of two this year, is part of our contribution to the Cathedral’s centenary year,’ comments Helen Woodroffe, Children’s Education Officer at the Cathedral. ‘As part of the event we are also launching a new book which is a resource for teachers based on the book Pilgrim’s Progress.’
Visitors are welcome to view the exhibition during the normal opening times of the Cathedral. Stewards will be on hand and programmes will be available. Admission is free.
