Annual East Anglian Artists’ showcase
The annual East Anglian Artists’ exhibition returns to St Edmundsbury Cathedral, Bury St Edmunds, from Friday 23 August.
The exhibition showcases many local artists, both amateur and professional. It will be open from 12 noon on Friday 23 August and thereafter will be open daily from 10.00 am to 5.00 pm. The exhibition runs until Thursday 29 August.
‘This exhibition always attracts a wide variety of paintings and pictures, many depicting local scenes,’ comments Sarah Friswell, Cathedral Public Relations Manager. ‘There is something to suit all tastes and budgets and all purchases help support the work of the Cathedral.’
Visitors are welcome to purchase exhibits when they visit and take them away as the stock will be regularly updated.
Profits from the exhibition will go to the Friends of St Edmundsbury Cathedral who assist the Cathedral Chapter in its responsibility to preserve the building and to meet the changing needs of the Cathedral as a strong focus of Christian worship.
Since its foundation in 1942, the Friends have played a major role in caring for the building, its treasures, the music and the furnishings.
With over 250 paintings on display, the exhibition will take place in both the Edmund Gallery, which is on Angel Hill, alongside the Cathedral Shop, and the Lecture Room in the Cathedral Centre.
