Looking for a curious new place to meet?

The Angel Hotel in Bury St Edmunds has opened a new bar, Wingspan, under the hotel reception. Available to both residents and non-residents, the bar is open daily from 5pm until late and is sure to become a popular spot for those seeking a decadent place to relax and meet friends or colleagues.

Fashioned out of the secret tunnels that run under much of Bury St Edmunds, the space features a fascinating mix of ancient architecture, modern furniture and an eclectic mix of curiosities.

Look out for the bar created from half an aircraft engine, tables designed from airplane wings and sofas individually covered in German flour sacks! The name Wingspan is truly reflected in many of the artefacts, wall coverings and soft furnishings.

As you would expect from The Angel Hotel, the drinks are aspirational with quality wines, spirits and beers all available. You will find yourself enjoying your favourite tipple in an atmosphere created to savour the experience.

Lynn Cowan, Operations Director for Gough Hotels said, “This is a very welcome additional to The Angel Hotel and one that we have been working on for some time to ensure we got it right. We wanted to provide a new place for the people of Bury St Edmunds to enjoy at their leisure. Special occasions with friends or family can be made extra special by enjoying a drink or two at Wingspan and the layout of the seating areas make it perfect for business meetings too.”

In the lead up to Christmas, Wingspan, will be the ideal location for a pre-dinner drink or stylish group celebration. The Angel Eaterie does have a few tables left to book for Christmas party dinners but with the addition of the new bar, expect these to go quickly.
