15/11/2019St Edmunds Day – next Wednesday!!Just a final reminder that it is St Edmunds Day next Wednesday (20th) and I would ask that all who have their bunting and flags from previous year please display this in or on your buildings from next Wednesday and throughout the Christmas Fayre weekend demonstrating to all the visitors to the Fayre of how proud we are of our town and it’s namesake. If you haven’t got any bunting or flags and want some then please contact me (if you haven’t already done so) asap! And I only have limited stocks left.

15/11/2019Win a Christmas HamperBID member, A-Plan Bury St Edmunds are running a prize draw for a Christmas Hamper from Regency Hampers, including a variety of goodies (see attached) and a £25 high street shopping voucher draw runs from now until 05/12/19 and the winner will be drawn 06/12/19. In order to enter, at least one renewal date must be supplied for either car, van, home or commercial insurance and each renewal date supplied will count as one entry into the draw. Over 18's only. If you want to partake please call into the office in Brentgovel St or e mail tom.brame@aplan.co.uk Also see attached a preferential business offer to all BID businesses.

15/11/2019Fake Compliments vouchersIt has been brought to my attention that recently in East Anglia a number of fake/counterfeit “Compliments” vouchers have been tendered and recovered so please ensure your staff are vigilant in checking these vouchers if they are presented to purchase goods or services in your businesses.

15/11/2019Christmas FayreI am sure none of you need reminding that the Fayre starts next Thursday at noon and runs through the weekend, ending at 6pm on Sunday. We are hoping for a bumper attendance that will benefit your businesses but acknowledge that getting in and out of town and finding a place to park will be more tricky than usual after 10am each day. It will obviously be helpful if staff can make alternative transport arrangements to get into and out of town, if at all possible, to free up more space for visitors. At the BID we are very aware that this event does not benefit all of our members and those that particularly have a local customer base and/or rely upon bookings for businesses can be detrimentally affected but overall the event is a huge benefit for the town both in regards of the spend over the weekend but also as a promotional tool for people to hear about our lovely town and increase subsequent visits.

Footfall data reports

Key Performance Indicators are essential if the “health” of the town is to be accurately assessed and analysed. These indicators will cover a number of issues including car parking usage, business profitability and footfall data.

On behalf of our members, Springboard, a nationally reputable company who work with the Association of Town and City Management, provide a footfall camera in Abbeygate Street and this was fitted in November 2012 and collects data regulary. On a monthly and yearly basis we can compare our performance against other towns and cities in East Anglia and the country. Each month we will post the report we receive from Springboard on this site for all our members to view.
