03/07/2019BID Renewal Ballot - Newsletter Every 5 years a BID is legally required to ask its members whether they want the BID to continue working with them on improving their business environment. In November there will be a postal ballot (overseen and co-ordinated by a completely independent organisation, Electoral Reform Services) asking you this very question. Attached is a newsletter that explains in more detail the current situation, the process involved and a brief summary of just some of the key events, activities and services we currently provide for our members to take advantage of . The most important thing though, from our perspective, is ensuring that what we intend to do on your behalf, during our 3rd term (2020-2024) is what you want us to do and what will be beneficial for your businesses. To help us do this it is essential that we receive feedback from yourselves and I would be very grateful if you were able to complete this short online survey which is accessible at https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/BSE2019

14/06/2019Food and Drink Market at the County Harvest Festival Event – Sunday 13th OctoberThe new Dean at the Cathedral, along with a number of other people of influence, is very keen to make the annual celebration of the Harvest Festival in Bury far more “accessible and less “stuffy” than might have previously been perceived and therefore this event is looking to be more of an attraction to people to attend from across the County.

14/06/2019Independents Week 1-7 July - UpdateA plan is afoot to have a photo taken for the media and for social media of as many independents together as possible. It would be a great way to show how proud we are of our Independents Town and how serious we are about our independent businesses and Independents Week.

14/06/2019Bury Free Press Business AwardsOnce again the Bury Free Press is hosting an awards evening at the end of the Business Festival and the BID is continuing its sponsorship of the Customer Service Award. In recent years a number of our members have entered the awards and last year there were a number of winners including Gavin Ashley, Wolf in Sheeps Clothing, Pocket Watch & Petticoats and Armstrongs, who won the Customer Service award.

Theatre Star Trail 2019

This year is the 200th Anniversary of Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds, and as one of the oldest active theatres in the UK and a huge cultural asset to Bury St Edmunds and the surrounding areas, it’s an anniversary worth celebrating!

There are a number of events the Theatre are organising to recognise this important achievement, click here to find out how you can get involved!

One of the events commemorating this anniversary is the Theatre Star Trail where, in partnership with the Our Bury St Edmunds BID, we are creating a trail around the town centre and challenging the public to find the 25 stars, each with a named performer, who has trodden the boards at Theatre Royal!

The trail will run from the May half term until the end of the October half term holiday (Saturday 25th May through to Sunday 27th October)

To take part in the trail is FREE!, great exercise and a fabulous social event with friends and/or family and a way of getting to know even more about our town centre and it’s wonderful businesses.

Trail leaflets and entry forms will be available from late May from the theatre and the Tourism Information Points at the Apex, the Cathedral Shop, Moyses Hall and the Town Council offices. There are prizes up for grabs for those who can identify each performer on the stars at the correct location and correct entries need to be delivered to the Our Bury St Edmunds BID offices in Woolhall Street by Thursday 31st October 2019.
