Bury St Edmunds is a hugely exciting place to be over the summer. The town becomes a buzz of activity with many people, visitors and residents, enjoying the vast array of independent businesses that the town centre has to offer.
Not only that, the wealth of historic buildings in the town provide a fantastic way to soak up our culture and heritage, and the beautiful Abbey Gardens is a wonderful place to relax in the sun.

Independents Week runs from 4th-10th June and focuses on all of the wonderful independent businesses that Bury St Edmunds has to offer. Also, the Festival of Sport runs from 9th-17th June and celebrates all aspects of sport.

How to get to bury St Edmunds by road:
By car, Bury St Edmunds is best reached by J43 of the A14 between Ipswich and Newmarket.
The A14 has good links to all major trunk roads in the East of England and can be easily reached by the A12 from the east, the A11 from the west and the A1(M) from the north.
The A134 also offers a direct route from Sudbury and Colchester to the south.
How to get to Bury St Edmunds by train:
Bury St Edmunds is located on the Ipswich to Cambridge/Peterborough line. If travelling from the north or south, change at Cambridge or Ipswich to catch a connecting service.
How to get to Bury St Edmunds by bus:
Bury St Edmunds has its own bus station which is serviced by National Express offering countrywide connections.
How to get to Bury St Edmunds by sea:
The Port of Harwich receives passenger ferries from northern Europe and is located around 1.5 hours to the south of Bury St Edmunds.
