The summer kicks off in Bury St Edmunds with Independents’ Week, a celebration of the unique independent businesses that line the streets of the market town. 57% of businesses in the town are independent, in comparison to the national average of 33%. With this in mind, we encourage you to to shop, eat and stay with these independent businesses from 29th June to 5th July, to benefit the local economy.
Next on the agenda is the Bury St Edmunds Wolf Trail that kicks off on the 20th July. From the Abbey Gardens to The Apex in the Arc Shopping Centre, you will have the opportunity to find 26 artistic wolf statues and be in with the chance of winning a shopping spree in the town centre.
To end the summer holidays, OurBuryStEdmunds will be hosting its renowned Food and Drink Festival during the August Bank Holiday weekend. The two day event will include cooking demonstrations from Galton Blackiston and Ed Baines, a Farmers Market from local producers in the region, a beach in the Arc Shopping Centre to keep the children occupied, and some exciting activities and promotions from the businesses in the town centre.
On top of this fantastic line-up, the entertainment venues of Bury St Edmunds including The Apex, Theatre Royal and Abbeygate Cinema have a brilliant line-up of local performances and artists, as well as national names.
