Lorfords, Bury St. Edmunds
Lorfords is a traditional specialist tobacconist, in the old-fashioned style, which has been trading at or near its present location in the town for at least a hundred years. As well as a baffling range of pipe & hand-rolling tobaccos, snuffs and cigarettes, the shop features a walk-in humidor where numerous Cuban and other hand-made cigars can be found.
The gamut of smokers’ requisites is also available - from beautiful briar wood pipes to whatever filter or tool your particular habit might call for. Some of these items already make for great gift ideas and Lorfords complements that with other ranges including pocket knives, drinking flasks and shaving accessories. Confectionery rounds off the offering, with the shop being especially well known for its seasonal collections of boutique chocolates and sweets. Do be warned that Lorfords also operates as a regular corner newsagent and confectioner so can be very busy, particularly on Saturdays when everybody comes in for their National Lottery tickets!
Don’t miss Lorfords Games Gallery, on a mezzanine level above the tobacconist, where you will find an extraordinarily large range of modern board games – which draws board game hobbyists from far and wide – alongside more traditional games such as chess, backgammon and mahjjong.

The games gallery is really great - they have all the latest board games and even their expansions. I think the only negative is there are tons of modern board gamers and their families around the region that have probably walked past and not noticed - you need more visibility, be it websites and physical signage. I love the place!
