The Teazers release an E.P. 36 Years after it was recorded!

36 years after Bury St Edmunds ‘Mod’ band The Teazers recorded four songs in a studio in London in the summer of 1982, it has been released as a four track extended play (E.P.) 12 inch vinyl single to help raise money for St Nicholas’ Hospice in Bury St Edmunds. The E.P. was the brainchild of Paul Hopfensperger, Managing Director of Mind and Body Studio, who wrote all four songs on the E.P. called “Teenage Angst”.

“I’m big into setting and achieving goals” said Paul. “I had three long term as well as many short-term goals. I also love raising money for local charities. Swimming The English Channel was the first long term goal, which I first achieved in 2007, then again in 2008 and 2010 raising over £16,500 for St Nicholas’ Hospice and CLIC Sargent children’s cancer charity. Writing a book was the second, and is slowly taking shape and releasing an E.P. was the third. It’s very exciting!”

“St Nicholas’ Hospice needs over £11,000 per day just to break even, so every penny helps”.

The band used to play at many local venues around the town including the infamous “The Griffin” pub in the town centre and the now demolished “The Centa” as well as venues further out of town. The Teazers once even had the opportunity to support their idols The Jam at Leicester De Montfort Hall. “We went to Woking to see some friends, and knocked on Paul Weller’s door. His dad asked us in for a cup of tea and showed us around. He offered us the gig in less than 2 weeks time, but at that time, half of our set was made up of The Jam songs. I told him we would learn some new songs and get back to him. However, the bass player Andy, went off to University, and I have never seen him since!” said Paul.

Drummer Pete Hawtin and Paul have spoken recently via social media, and Pete is keen to do a re-union gig. “I’ve always wanted to play The Apex, so you never know!” said Paul.

Pre-signed copies of the single will be available from “Vinyl Hunter”, 56 St John’s Street, Bury St Edmunds, and personalised signed copies from Paul at Body and Mind Studio, 16 Risbygate Street, Bury St Edmunds, or online via The Teazers web shop at
