12/04/2019Love LocalMany of you will have seen this recently launched campaign from the Bury Free Press and I just wanted you to know that we of course fully support this initiative and are looking to specifically work in partnership with the BFP during Independents Week. At other times we are also making William Mata, the lead journalist on this issue, aware of things going on in the town centre, particularly where it involves Independent businesses. You may have seen some of our members have already featured in an article or two on this subject. If any of you want to contact William direct then he is very happy to hear from you at william.mata@iliffepublishing.co.uk and he can supply you marketing materials, if you wish, such as stickers and pens

12/04/2019Public SurveyWe will again be running our public survey seeking the views of those who visit Bury and also those who don’t. It should go live next week and will be open until the 31st May. Once it’s available I would be very grateful if you can share the link with your staff, customers, friends and family so we can get the views of as many people as possible in order for us to be aware of what our potential customers want the town centre to offer. More specific details to follow next week.

12/04/2019Network Events As you are aware we are hosting a members network evening on Monday 29th April at The Athenaeum but we are aware that an evening meeting may not be suitable for everyone so in addition to this we are holding two morning meetings at Bills in Abbeygate St. The first is a breakfast meeting between 7.30-8.30am on Tuesday 14th May and the second will be a mid-morning “coffee morning” between 1030-1130 on Thursday 6th June. To assist us with catering if you intend popping along to either or both can you contact Jackie.regan@ourburystedmunds.com and make her aware if you have any dietary requirements.

12/04/2019Sundays in the SummerAs part of the town’s summer event programme the West Suffolk markets team will be hosting two ‘mini markets’ on Sunday 30 June and Sunday 28 July. These markets will complete a programme of events on the last Sunday of the month during the summer with the BID’s Whitsun Fayre on Sunday 26 May and the Food and Drink Festival on Sunday 25 August. In addition to the above they will be hosting a ‘Friday Night Food Festival’ which will be similar to an event held in 2017. This will be on Friday 19 July and run from 12 noon until 9pm. There will be a bar, food and drink stalls and live entertainment. All these events will be held between Superdrug/Moyses Hall and the war memorial and on the paved area near to Poundland similar to their December Sunday markets. The road and remainder of parking will be kept open as normal. They would like to invite any interested BID members to have a presence at these events, which will consist mainly of West Suffolk market traders. Any interested businesses should contact Sharon Fairweather – sharon.fairweather@westsuffolk.gov.uk for further information.
