21/02/2019Easter Themed Window Display CompetitionTo encourage visitors to our lovely town centre and businesses we are planning a Facebook Easter Window Display Competition. I know many of our businesses frequently theme their window displays so if you are able to support the Easter theme that would be great.

08/02/2019Supporting College Business StudentsThe College are currently running a live project with their Business and Retail students who are taking over a number of charity shops in the town centre next week. They will be involved in remerchandising stock and hopefully increasing sales during the two day take over period which is 13th and 14th Feb. They are working in groups of 2/3 and are looking for sponsorship of a small prize for the team which achieves the best results. If any of you are interested in providing this reward then please contact tracey.marshall@wsc.ac.uk

08/02/2019Attempted Arson at a BID Business in the ButtermarketOver the weekend we had an incident in the town centre, which the police are treating as attempted arson. The suspect(s) had wrapped an incendiary device, in combustible materials, apparently found nearby and then set it alight in and placed it in the cash chute on the side of the building. The business concerned and the Police have asked me to bring this situation to the attention of our members, as looking around the town there are examples of cardboard and other combustible materials being stored against buildings and it’s possible that there may be a repeat incident against other businesses, so please consider how you deal with your cardboard left for collection.

08/02/2019St Johns Street Festival – 15th JuneThe traders in St Johns Street are reinstating their annual celebration of their street and we are working with them regarding the closure of the street. I attended a meeting, with some of the traders, last evening and they would be absolutely delighted if any other Independent businesses in the town wanted, for this day, to have a stall in SJS as they see the day being about celebrating Independent businesses and the town centre of Bury, as well as their street. If you are interested in taking up this opportunity then please contact Rosie, from Vinyl Hunter on curtainhunters@mac.com
