Easter Activities in Bury St Edmunds

Easter already!? Where did the first quarter of 2018 go??? Like it or not, the Easter holidays are nearly upon us, the daffodils are brightening up the grass verges and the clocks will soon be going forward.

With this in mind, we’ve put together a few suggestions of things to do over the Easter holiday period so that you can keep the kids (and yourself) fully entertained.


FOR THE KIDS

Wizard of Oz

Date: 3rd April, 2018

Click your ruby heels together and head over the rainbow for a magical adventure suitable for all ages…

Follow Dorothy and her new friends along the yellow brick road as they help the wonderful Wizard of Oz defeat the Wicked Witch of the West.

A fast-paced, highly entertaining Easter pantomime featuring pop songs, magic, puppets and your favourite Oz characters.

The Wind in the Willows

Join KD Theatre on an exciting adventure along the riverbank, with a brand new staging of Kenneth Grahame’s family classic, ‘The Wind In The Willows.’

Sybil Andrews: Movement at its Core

To mark the 120th Anniversary of Sybil Andrew’s birth, Moyse’s Hall Museum will be displaying its definitive collections of her work and collections connected to her.

In the early 1990s, whilst resident in Canada, Artist Sybil Andrews corresponded with Moyse’s Hall Museum, giving personal context to the examples of her work then housed there.

Born in the Town, her brother even served as the Curator of Moyse’s Hall Museum in the 30s, she spoke of Suffolk as “the core of what I am”.

The Emperor’s Battle - The Last German Offensive

Moyse’s Hall Museum, Bury St Edmunds presents a talk assessing the 1918 offensive which nearly resulted in German victory.

With the Germans facing the entry of America into the Great War with its wealth of manpower and material in support of the French and British Allies, the German High Command recognised they faced a race against time. Hesitation would mean the loss of possibly their only chance to seize the opportunity and advance, utilising the Troops released from the Russian front.

The resultant Gamble of the 1918 caused a series of clashes which caused the Allies to lose ground with heavy casualties on both sides, and it would prove to be a hard fought, desperate; and costly Gamble that very nearly paid off.
