Looking for fun things to do in half term in Bury St Edmunds? Take a look at this list of some great activities for all the family to enjoy!

Mini Magicians Party

Date: 23rd October 2017
Starts: 12pm
Tickets: Free, but booking is essential and information mentioned above is required on entry - booking closes 5pm on the 21st October. 
Venue: The Apex, Bury St Edmunds

Get ready for Harry Panto, with free pre-show comedy magic, bubbles, balloon modelling (including rocket balloons!) and prizes for children!

Children will also enjoy sandwiches, crisps, Harry Potter cake and squash, while adults relax with a cup of tea or coffee - all for free!

This free party wouldn't be able to take place without our brilliant local sponsors - A Plan Insurance Bury St Edmunds. In order to attend this magical event, all A Plan ask for is your contact details and your car/home insurance renewal date, on entry to The Apex Lounge.

Fancy dress is encouraged, but not essential.

Advance booking is essential, as the party numbers are strictly limited. A maximum of two adults per child are allowed, and only children require a ticket. 

Important: This event is only available for children who hold tickets for the 2pm performance of Harry Panto and the Chamber Pot of Secrets at The Apex on Monday 23 October. Please can the Box Office on 01284 758000 to book.

Times: Mon–Sat – 10am-5pm (last entry 4pm), Sun 12-4pm (last entry 3pm), Sunday 22 & 29 Oct & 26 Nov opening times 10am–5pm (last entry 4pm)
Tickets: Adults £5, Concessions £3, Family Ticket £15 (5 people, min 1 adult, min 1 paying child), Heritage Ticket holders FOC
Booking: Not required
Venue: Moyse's Hall Museum, Bury St Edmunds

The 9th Annual Sci-Fi & Action Exhibition comes to Moyse’s Hall Museum!

Bringing a taste of Hollywood to the region with screen-used props, screen accurate replicas, original artwork and much more from the world of Sci-Fi & Action including Dr Who, Marvel, DC comics and others!

This year’s exhibition marks the 40th anniversary of two iconic Sci-Fi brands; Star Wars, and the UKs most ground-breaking comic, 2000AD.

- See screen-used costumes from X-Men, Star Trek and Dredd! 
- Drop-in workshops (Please note, there may be a small additional charge for some workshops)
- Meet a Stormtrooper!
- Sci-Fi trail: Complete the trail around the museum for your chance to win a prize!

How to Draw Manga, Sci-Fi style!

Date: 25th October 2017
Times: 30-45 minute slots, starting at 11am, 12pm and 1pm

Is there a young artist that loves comic or cartoon art in your house?

We’ve teamed up with a local amateur artist, who has a passion for manga and Sci-fi, to offer the chance for your little illustrator to learn some techniques. 

Local amateur artist and West Suffolk College Art Student, Louisa Kirby-Green, will be offering young visitors of 7 years and older the chance of learning some techniques for creating some well-known Sci-fi faces. 

Louisa will be offering 30 - 45 min workshops for your illustrator to learn some illustrating techniques and take away their own piece of art.

Festival of Sport

The Bury St Edmunds Festival of Sport aims to raise awareness of all the amazing sports that are available to try in Bury St Edmunds. This brilliant celebration of sport in our amazing town takes place from Monday 23rd October to Sunday 29th October and promises to once again be a fantastic fun week of activities!

Try your hand at tennis; have lunch with cricket legend, Geoff Miller; take part in a fun run or even give Nordic Walking go!
