Top 10 Activities at the Food and Drink Festival

The Bury St Edmunds Food and Drink Festival is just around the corner, so we’ve put together a list of our top 10 things to do at the Festival on 28th and 29th August.


1. Cookery Demonstrations

Aga Rangemaster Theatre Kitchen
Sunday and Monday
Various times

Taking place at various times throughout both days of the festival, make your way over to the Aga Rangemaster Theatre Kitchen for demonstrations from celebrity chefs Galton Blackiston and James Tanner, along with various chefs and experts from a wide range of local food and drink establishments.


2. Mad Hatter’s Tea Party

St Edmundsbury Cathedral Grounds
Sunday and Monday
10am-5pm

Enjoy Alice in Wonderland themed family drop–in activities. Children can make their own Mad Hatter’s hat or perhaps a cheeky grinning Cheshire Cat mask with their fantastic artist. Let your imagination run wild at this fantastic celebration of a children’s classic.


3. Food & Drink Stalls

Buttermarket and Cornhill
Sunday and Monday
10am-5pm

Browse a veritable plethora of local produce with an abundance of stalls from local businesses and producers. With this much of a selection on offer, there really is something to suit every taste!


4. Rio Comes to Langton Place

Langton Place
Sunday and Monday
10am-5pm

Visit Langton Place for some Rio carnival atmosphere, food, drink and dancing. There will be drumming and mask-making workshops throughout the day, so the kids can have a good time whilst you enjoy a cocktail!


5. Farmers' Market

Angel Hill
Sunday and Monday
10am-5pm

Brought to you by the award-winning Suffolk Market Events, the Farmers’ Market is the ultimate celebration of all the fantastic local produce that Bury St Edmunds has to offer. Around 30 local producers will offer goods from within a 30-mile radius of the town.


6. Icing on the cake!

Buttermarket/Cornhill
Sunday and Monday
10am-5pm

Let the kids design their own sweet treats with our fantastic cake-decorating workshops at the Buttermarket/Cornhill. What better way to fuel the imaginations of all those budding chefs out there!


7. Fairground Rides

arc Shopping Centre
Sunday and Monday
10am-5pm

As if there wasn’t already enough excitement! The arc Shopping Centre will host some fantastic fairground rides including a helter skelter and children’s roundabouts. A perfect way to burn off some of that extra energy.


8. Punch and Judy Show

arc Shopping Centre
Sunday and Monday
11am, 1pm, 3pm

Keep the kids giggling with this timeless classic show taking place in the arc Shopping Centre.


9. Mini-Farm

Abbeygate Street
Sunday and Monday
10am-5pm

The ever popular mini-farm is back featuring pygmy goats, miniature pigs, an alpaca, a miniature horse, and lots more, which will all be found in its usual position at the top of Abbeygate Street.


10. The Beach

Charter Square
Sunday and Monday
10am-5pm

Ho can we forget the old favourite - the ourburystedmunds beach! Make sure you pop along to Charter Square to enjoy the gorgeous sun and golden sand. Who needs the Algarve when you have Bury St Edmunds?!
